Security Updates Made Priority at Smithtown Schools

Security measures for all of the Smithtown Central School District schools are being updated.

Superintendent Anthony Annunziato announced during Tuesday's Board of Education meeting that security changes are possible, including hiring an outside security consultant.

One change Annunziato has already made to the security measures is the pushing up of Phase 3 of the district's 24-hour indoor and outdoor surveillance camera installation.

Phase 3 is the installation of the cameras at all of the elementary schools in the district. This was to be completed over the summer for the 2013-14 school year but Annunziato said installation should be completed in two weeks.

Elwood Condo Developer Denies Bribery Accusation

Engel Burman group, developers of the proposed Seasons at Elwood, are denying allegations that recently distributed dinner invitations are an ethical violation of the Town's review process.

In an email to the press, 'Preserve Elwood Now,' a group in opposition to the development, labeled the invitation bribery and called it "reminiscent of the days of Tammany Hall." A protest outside the restaurant was considered, states the email, but was struck due to safety concerns.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
