More Than 47,000 Without Power in Smithtown

LIPA is reporting 1,643 are without power in Kings Park.

Hurricane Sandy has arrived and its strength has knocked out power to much of Kings Park and Fort Salonga, with many of the outages in the Fort Salonga and San Remo area. As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, LIPA has reported 47,845 homes in the town of Smithtown are without power.

  • Kings Park - 1,643
  • Fort Salonga- 5,974

Specifically in Smithtown, St. James, Nesconset, Head of the Harbor, Village of the Branch and Nissequogue, there are 31,828 outages. Here is a breakdown of what areas are missing power:

  • Smithtown – 17,531
  • St. James – 6,741
  • Nesconset – 3,170
  • Village of the Branch – 2,251
  • Head of the Harbor – 1,064
  • Nissequogue – 1,071

Throughout Suffolk County there are 933,600 outages.
