Library Vote: Budget Passes, New Face Added to the Board

Voters re-elect Anthony Monteleone to the board.

The residents of Smithtown passed the and have added a new trustee to the board while keeping an incumbent.

Voters passed the 2012 library budget with 960 votes for the budget and 617 against. The $12,649,720 budget was a 1.2 percent increase over the 2011 budget. Residents on average can expect to see a $6.34 increase in library taxes per household.

Two board positions were up for grabs. Vice President Anthony Monteleone maintained his seat with 1140 votes out of a total 2835 votes cast.

Otis Thornhill of Commack received 988 votes to beat out Rosalind Palazzolo of St. James to win a trustee spot. Palazzolo, who received 707 votes, was vying to win back her position as trustee after she lost re-election to Judy Marlow-Ratway last year.
