Kings Park's Most Dangerous Cut-Throughs?

What residential streets have become virtual busy highways for people taking shortcuts?

Some residential streets can feel like busy highways if they're frequently used as cut-throughs, and can pose a danger to unsuspecting pedestrians. In Kings Park, Rose Street has been mentioned as a short cut from Landing Avenue and 25A, though there are many others concerning locals.

What do you think are some of the most highly used and least appropriate cut through streets in Kings Park and the surrounding area? What threats do they pose and how do you think traffic could be better managed or avoided?

Tell us in the comments.

Avenue B between Lou and Pulaski. In the morning and late afternoon it's rediculous. One woman in particular every morning does 40 while either putting make up on or talking on her phone. Need a stop sign at short street bad. And than a cop to sit there for a few days and bag the morons as they blow through it....

Primrose Lane . Some mornings I can't get out of my drive way. Drivers run the 2 stop signs all the time. People use it to avoid 25A.

Old Indian Head Rd They drive like maniacs just to miss the light. Very dangerous, tried to get stop signs to slow down the traffic but the town is uninterested in keeping children and pets safe. No sidewalks, we take our lives in our hands when even getting the mail. Speeding and distracted drivers have no use on this narrow road. Stay on Indian Head Rd. Thanks the Town of Smithtown for nothing.

Henry St in town...St Joseph's Church goers park on our street (and Old Dock Rd) to avoid the long lines getting out of the parking lot after mass. Then when people are leaving or us who live on this street need to park or leave we cannot.Cutting thru to avoid the light...pulling out of Henry St onto Old Dock is a death trap!! PARK IN YOUR PARKING LOT!

IS Meadow Road still considered a residential road? It is very busy with drivers trying to avoid 25A. Old Dock Road to St Johnland is a very popular detour to & from Smithtown, or to Fort Salonga.

We are KP Schools (Smithtown Town) but considered Ft. Salonga: Meadow Glen Road/Orchard Rd-Pulaski end. There are stop signs just before Pulaski on this 3 way intersection. They are for the most part ignored, as indicated by the terrible accident this summer killing a 3 year old boy. A light is needed on Pulaski road/Meadow Glen. Secondary: When the VA Hospital lets out 4ish in afternoon they cut thru Orchard Rd to get to Pulaski, avoiding the Bread & Cheese Hollow Rd light. Orchard is a quiet road otherwise, and kids and animals are used to that, but at 4:00 its a deathtrap.

Cook street at Magellan and Cortez ,its an accident waiting to happen. Cortez and Magellan are used as a cut through fron Indian Head road to Meadow road. Cook street is used as a drag strip. We need stop signs on Cook at both Cortez And Magellan befor someone is hurt or killed
