Kings Park Students Reach Quiz Show Quarterfinals

Competition against Longwood High School airs next Monday.

A team of Kings Park students have moved on to the quarterfinals in a local high school quiz show, The Challenge, where they will take on Longwood High School.

A win for the team would put them one step closer to the tri-state championships, where they would compete against regional winners for the overall championship.

"Most people on team mostly veteran players, playing for a few years," said team advisor Robert Celeste, who teaches social studies at the high school. "They have tryouts with an exam."

The Kings Park High School team is represented by Michael Adams, Joseph Gargiulo, Katie Mayer and Eric Parigoris. The academic advisor is Rob Celeste.

Celeste said the team enjoys the competition.

"We do practices and we get to go to the city," said Celeste. "The  students really do like it. They did a great job this year. We’ve been there a couple of years now."

The Challenge pits 192 high schools in the tri-state area in a competition quiz match up with one school in each region being crowned regional champion with a $2500 prize for their school. The winning teams then go on to the championship where they square off in a tri-state showdown where the winning school is awarded $10,000. Each student participating in the final Challenge Championship game receives $500.

The show will air Monday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m on MSG Varsity, Cablevision's iO TV Ch. 14.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
