Kings Park Parade Committee Awards Scholarships

Committee awards two $500 scholarships to local teens.


The Kings Park St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee presented $500 scholarships to two graduates of the Kings Park High School Class of 2012.

Kaitlin Gallagher and Kaitlyn Trodden were presented with the scholarships last week at by parade board members Gerry and Bob Creighton and diner owner, Kevin Denis.

The girls both presented winning essays on “The Significance of My Irish Heritage".
Kaitlin Gallagher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gallagher, plans to study Political Science at Fordham University in the Fall.

Kaitlyn Trodden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Trodden, plans to study Exercise Sports Science at Coastal Carolina College in South Carolina.

Thanks, Jen, for placing this in your PATCH.....how 'bout that: TWO girls with ALMOST the same name :Kaitlin & Kaitlyn.....the article was written for us by Gerry Creighton. I "brightened" each pix for clarity.....the original shots were better defined, but I didn't think they'd "show" properly unless brightened. I'll notify all on my email distribution listings to look this up on THE PATCH.....Kings Park will be continue to be WELL represented in Fordham and Coastal Carolina, don't you think ?

Oh: BTW.....Kaitlin is the daughter of John E. Gallagher.....and the granddaughter of John P. Gallagher (the St. Joseph's acolyte and Hibernian Singing group member as well as Chaplain of KP's American Legion )....I'm John J. Gallagher.....I'd better start making these distinctions.
