Jan. 16th: A Scholar, an Athlete and a Storyteller

What you need to know for Sunday.

The weekend is winding down, so take some time and enjoy what the day has to offer. Sunday playoff games are happening and our very own Jets are kicking off at 4:30. Get out the chips, call your friends and settle in. If football isn't your thing, there is always something going on and today is no exception.

1. You don't have to be Daddy Warbucks to catch at the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts.

2. Catch the Jets at some local gathering spots like which boasts two 50" screen TVs and some great drink specials.

3. What everyone in Kings Park should know is that there is a scholar among us. Ishwarya Ananthabhotla, a student at Kings Park High School is a semifinalist in the 2011 Intel science competition. Check back this week for our story on her.

4. There's no shortage of athletes here either. The Lady Kingsmen may haven fallen short in their game against Harborfields this week, but Meghan Eckel led all scorers with 18 points which showcased her skill and her drive.
