Organizers for the market are hoping for a June 26 opening that will run on Sunday mornings until November. The market will feature products from local farmers.

“We have a Manorville farm that is interested,” said Nedell.

The women have been working with Friends and Farmers, which also runs markets in Hicksville, Long Beach and Glen Cove.

“They have been great to work with,” said Nedell. “They see how Kings Park is an amazing and desirable location to have a market.”

Currently, there are markets set up in Huntington, Northport and Port Jefferson, but this would be the first in the Kings Park area. Support for the market has been strong said Elish-Swartz, who has spoken to several groups and says that people would like to see it happen.

“We have not had any opposition. We haven’t been met with any negativity. People have been very supportive,” said Elish-Swartz.
