Gasparro's Brick Oven Pizza Closes Shop

The restaurant that served pizza with a view has gone out of business.

A San Remo favorite and summer hang out spot has closed its doors; closed shop last week.

Fans of the pizzeria, located on Riviera Drive, posted their disappointment on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “Best baked calzone I have had in 40 years,” said one fan.

But what really made Gasparro’s a standout were the views. The restaurant, perched on the edge of the Nissequogue River provided patrons with picnic tables and built an outdoor 15’ x 39’ barge last summer for kayakers and canoers to tie up to and grab a bite to eat.

There were no signs of trouble in May when who said they had plans to buy the building that the restaurant was housed in as well as add a side dining room.
