Free Rides for Partygoers

Lindy's taxi providing free service for those too intoxicated to drive on New Year's Eve.

In an effort to curb drunk driving, Lindy's Taxi will be offering free rides home to New Year's Eve partygoers who have had too much to drink.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy applauded the efforts saying "There is absolutely no reason to ever drink and drive, and now with Lindy's generous offer, there is no excuse."

Lindy's, which has locations in Smithtown and Kings Park, has also said that they will provide a free ride back to the bar or holiday party in order for those who took advantage of the service to pick up their cars.

Jim Pavese, owner of the said he was unaware of the promotion.

"I didn't know about it, but now that I do I will certainly be promoting it," he said.

Suffolk county has been plagued with recent wrong way driving and drunk driving accidents in the past few months.

"It is a service we are offering to keep intoxicated drivers off the road, helping to ensure the safety of Suffolk county residents and its visitors," said Joseph Fierro, Lindy's Taxi's general manager.
