Last Saturday’s Night of Comedy Fundraiser, hosted by the Kings Park Fire Department, tickled a few funny bones and in the process produced a record size donation from a local business.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the department’s Concert in the Park, which will mark the 100th anniversary of the Kings Park Volunteer Fire Department.
Smithtown’s Carrabbas Italian Grill provided the evening’s dinner.
“There was an overwhelming show of support for the event made by the local Kings Park business community…they are impossible for all to be listed,” said Hans Richter, co-committee chair for the anniversary event.
The McElhone family, owners of Clayton Funeral Home, presented the department with a $10,000 check, causing the audience to rise to its feet.
The Concert in the Park is slated for August 3, 2013.
