Cupcakes, Food Donations at the Farmers Market

More than 200 pounds of food collected for the St. Joseph's food pantry.

The allure of cupcakes seemed to draw a bigger than normal crowd at Sunday’s also producing a generous donation of food for the local food pantry.

“A lot of vendors were saying they sold more in an hour and a half then in ten hours at other markets,” said market organizer, Aly Elish-Swartz.

TLC's has partnered with the market to raffle off a year of free cupcakes with proceeds benefiting the food pantry at St. Joseph's Church as well as the Greg Szurnicki Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is offered through the Kings Park Civic Association.

The market was able to donate more than 200 pounds of fresh produce and canned goods for the food pantry at .

Shoppers are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable goods as well as fresh produce on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month when the market organizes the donation.
