Meet Author and Illustrator Neil Numberman

Author Neil Numberman shows the art behind comic books and graphic novels Friday at the Nesconset branch of the Smithtown Library. Some of the author's work includes "Do Not Build a Frankenstein!" and "Joey Fly, Private Eye." Registration is open to children in grades 2-5. Event starts at 4:30 p.m.

Kitchen Remodel Workshop

Get ideas, advice and information on remodeling your kitchen at the DirectBuy showroom in Hauppauge. Reservations are required. Event happens Saturday at 1 p.m.

Polar Bear Storytime

Who doesn't want to hear polar bear stories and make polar bear crafts? For children ages 3-5 with a parent or caregiver present. Event begins at 2:30 p.m at the Commack branch of the Smithtown Library.

2012 Jim Ryan Memorial Chili Cook Off

Cooks and tasters needed. Appetizers and desserts will also be served. Proceeds from the event will go to PanCan, a pancreatic cancer research association and our 2012 ELCA Youth Mission Trip. Cook off starts at 7 p.m. Saturday evening at Abiding Presence Pre-school.

Creation Station

Kids can have fun at Nissequogue River State Park on Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m. Children ages 5 and up will learn about how animals adapt to their environments, then create a new species of bird. Reservations are required.
