Two New Shops Open on Main Street

Clothing stores open a few storefronts away from each other, weeks apart.

Fashion savvy Kings Parkers may rejoice at the arrival of two new storefronts, both clothing boutiques that have recently opened up on Main Street.

Olga Fashion and Variedades and Bella Fashion, both owned by woman, opened just prior to the new year. Diana Mendoza, owner of Bella Boutique, said she has seen some brisk business since she opened her doors.

“People are shopping, telling us this is good for Kings Park,” said Mendoza.

The store stocks leggings, dresses, tops and jeans aimed mainly for young women and juniors. A rack of little girl party dresses hangs in the back.

The business is a first for Mendoza, 19, who said she worked at Joyce Leslie prior to opening the store. Mendoza, of Huntington, said Kings Park seemed to be an ideal place for a clothing shop.

“I decided to open a clothing store because there weren’t any around,” she said. She plans on bringing in additional merchandise such as scarves, purses and jewelry.

Just a few doors down, Olga Fashion, run by owner Olga Gomez, said she is a little nervous about the lack of traffic in her store.

“We opened about a month ago, it has been slow,” said Gomez. The stores sells men and women’s clothing as well as sneakers, shoes and perfume.

This is Gomez’s first time as her own boss as well. She previously worked at Dunkin Donuts and said she was looking for something better.

“It was very hard work. I wanted to do something for myself,” said Gomez on opening her own shop.

Olga Fashion is located at 38 Main Street, Bella Fashion is located at 12 Main Street, both in Kings Park.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
