The Dish: Quesadilla and Nachos from Salsa Salsa

The dishes may simple but the flavor of the quesadilla and nachos is anything but.

If you frequent in Smithtown you are already aware of the rather extensive menu they have. But if you are a regular and haven't tried everything on the menu, you might want to check out two of the more simple items – the grilled chicken quesadilla and the nachos grande.

The Dish: Grilled Chicken Quesadilla ($7.49) and Nachos Grande ($7.29)

What is it: The grilled chicken quesadilla is a 12-inch toasted tortilla loaded with grilled chicken, blended cheeses, scallions and jalapenos, served with a side of sour cream. The nachos grande is a mound of corn chips topped with melted jack and cheddar cheeses, scallions, salsa fresca and sour cream.

How does it taste: While only using a few ingredients and the fact that you could make these at home on your own, these dishes could be seen as typical, non-standout items on the Salsa Salsa menu – but that is not the case. The tortilla is toasted to perfection on the grilled chicken quesadilla, the chicken is succulent and moist, and the cheeses are rich and bold. For the nachos grande, most of the flavor comes from the delicious salsa fresca, and there is plenty atop the bed of crispy, lightly salted corn chips. The cheeses have a bold flavor, but it still takes the back seat to the salsa fresca.

Why you should eat this: The two dishes won't drain your wallet and you'll leave full and satisfied.

Love this place!!! Everything is amazing. Foods always fresh and tasty. Margaritas are awesome. But just a little tip... Avoid Tuesday nights. The waitress is rude!!!!! It's a shame because this place is always a fun place to chill with a great atmosphere. But this woman just kills it with her attitude.

My family and I have always loved salsa salsa. We stopped going last year because of the previous owner. When we heard there was a switch in ownership we were so excited. Even better when we found out the new owner was our favorite waitress!!! Needless to say we are back to being weekly customers. She is doing a wonderful job. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! I do have to agree with the previous comment about the woman that works tuesday nights or Wed. during the day. She's very nasty and abrupt. Kinda like the previous owner. I want to see the new owner succeed... and this woman is not helping at all. Shes driving customers away.

Has anyone ever tried Green Cactus Grill? I have never tried Salsa Salsa but heard great things about it. I wonder if anyone knows how it compares to Green Cactus.

Salsa salsa is so much better than green cactus.
