St. Johnland Nursing Center has submitted a a draft environmental impact statement to the town in hopes of building a continuing care retirement community according to a report on the Times of Smithtown.
According to the article, the facility would have 24 beds and 175 units would be either townhomes and apartments and be built on 50 wooded acres across from the center, to the south.
A possible land swap where the facility would be built on the former grounds of the Kings Park Psychiatric Center and St. Johnland would give land up for state parkland have been nixed.
