Snap Fitness Exits Branch Shopping Plaza [Empty in Smithtown]

As one gym enters the shopping center a longtime fitness center leaves.

When LA Fitness announced it would be coming to Smithtown in the same shopping center as Snap Fitness, many locals questioned why the gym would move in where one already exists.

Now only LA Fitness remains.

Snap Fitness has left the Branch Shopping Plaza, its longtime home, only months after LA Fitness moved into its corner location in October of last year. There are now just three Snap Fitness locations on Long Island: East Northport, East Setauket and North Massapequa.

Snap Fitness owner Alex Leyberman told Smithtown Patch back in February of last year that he was not notified of the arrival of LA Fitness by landlord Acadia Realty until after the deal was made public.

What are your thoughts on Snap Fitness leaving the shopping center? Let us know in the comments.

Snap fitness was over priced. They also let things detriorate without repair. Don't miss woking out in that shoebox at all! Long live LA fitness....

PQ.......$30 a month, my son just joined. He had to pay $50 up front and $50 a month. That sounds more expensive. Just like the old Jack La Lane, it seems the price changes every day.....after the hard sell. You must have signed up early. Just like any gym (except golds), they don't usually stay for too long, then the shopping center will be empty again.

It should serve as good warning for any business looking to lease from Arcaida. The fact that they would lease to identical businesses without any remorse then think how rotten of a landlord they would be for everything else. I will never lease from Arcadia even if the location was fantastic

I wonder what is the name behind Arcadia?

I knew this was going to happen once that LA Fitness monstrousity moved in. Snap wasn't big or fancy enough apparently, despite it and several other gyms in town..sigh
