Second Annual 'Dine with Wine' Restaurant Week Underway

Participating restaurants offering three-course meals for $25, first glass of wine for $5.

Dine for a deal at 29 particpating Smithtown restaurants during Dine with Wine Restaurant Week in Smithtown.

The event, which began Sunday and runs until Sept. 16, offers diners the chance to endulge in a three-course, price fixed dinner for $25 per person, with the first glass of wine offered for $5.

"This is bigger than our 'Dine with Wine' last year, it's larger than last year. Last year we had 24 restaurants join us, this year it's 30," said Barbara Franco, executive director of the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce.
"The reason why we did it early in September was because we wanted to get everybody back from vacations, back to school, back to business, back to the local eateries."

A special menu is on tap for restaurants like H20, that are offering appetizers like autumn salad, entrees such as sautéed local fish of the day with fall squash ratatouille, potato puree, roast pepper buerre blanc and if that wasn't enough to entice you,  deserts like apple blackberry crisp with brown sugar oatmeal streusel will finish the meal off. Faraday's of Smithtown is adding the option of $5 beer to the special as well.

"For Restaurant Week we have an amazing variety of dinners and appetizers." said Faraday's co-owner, Claudia LaGrega. "What we do differently than anyone else in town is they offer a $5 glass of wine to start if you choose to offer from that menu, we choose to offer $5 glasses of wine and $5 pints of beer throughout the dinner with that menu."

I just saw this dog running down sunken meadow rd. on Monday afternoon around 4:45. We tried callingRead More it but it ran into the st. johnland nursing home and wouldn't come to me when I tried calling it over. It looks like a shepherd mix and seems a little frightened.
