Lemon Leaf Closes its Doors [Empty in Smithtown]

The Thai restaurant opened in July of last year.

Lemon Leaf, the Thai restaurant that took over the former home to the Korean barbecue restaurant Genghis Khan on Smithtown's Main Street, has closed.

The restaurant opened in July of last year.

“We get a lot of takeout and delivery business, it is more popular than dining," Lemon Leaf waitress Jin Ho told Patch days after opening.

The second Thai restaurant to open on Main Street, just up the road from longtime Thai restaurant Thai House, took the former Genghis Khan home after owner Eric Chang said his business outgrew its location.

“It’s a little small for us, we have a tiny seating room … We are planning to move to a bigger place,” Chang said.

According to the business listing on MLSLI.com, the location is roughly 1,500 square feet in size, with 1,626 square feet available in parking.

What would you like to see open in Lemon Leaf's place?

Wow ! Lemon Leaf thanks for giving it a go in Smithtown, but the north side of Main Street is practically impossible to make it ! Frontal parking / exposure are minimal with all the hustle and bustle out front ! I totally agree that something had to be done after the vehicular deaths, and pedestrian safety should definitely come first, but it is simply too darn narrow and overcrowded on Main Street. C'mon folks, let's brainstorm this and save the face of our town !

Sorry to hear Lemon Leaf didn't make it. It's ridiculous trying to park for any place on the westbound side of Main St. This is why I'm glad to see Luso moving into the old Sertino's/Sizzler spot. An actual parking lot to park in and a larger dining room. Luso is awesome and unbelievably delicious but we actually sat in their tiny vestibule waiting almost 2 hrs (no joke) for a table on a Friday night. We never went back for dinner, sadly. Looking forward to their new location.

Yup! Sign is in the window of the old Sertino's. I'm psyched! That place is way too good to be so small!
