5 Businesses That Shuttered in 2011

This past year saw some changes to Kings Park's storefront landscape. Here's a list of five businesses that closed their doors.

The shaky economy took its toll on Kings Park this past year, with some community favorites closing up shop. Here's our list of those who left in 2011.

1. - The family owned eatery with a view of the Nissequogue River and a dock for boaters to use when they wanted to stop off for a bite shuttered its doors in August, a few months after announcing plans to expand.

2. - Closed since the spring, this shop will soon be joined in vacancy by Tormented Souls tattoo parlor, which will leave only two of four storefronts occupied at that property.

3. - Besides the car that crashed through the store's front window early this month, nothing has changed at the location left empty by this dirt-cheap shop's departure.

4. - The family restaurant opened by a former chef at Maureen's Kitchen underwent a makeover in August, opening as Relish shortly afterwards.

5. - The branch closed on April 14, transferring its services to Commack's. Not to fear - it's only closed for renovations, which were projected to be completed early in 2012.
