From Miller Place: Work Begins at Hibachi Restaurant

About two and a half months after gaining approval from the Town Planning Board, construction started this past week on a 5,000-square foot hibachi restaurant on Route 25A in Miller Place.


Located in the Dunkin' Donuts plaza at 725 Route 25A, Nishiki Hibachi and Sushi Japanese Restaurant will take the place of four former retail operations, including a carpet store, a kitchen and bath design shop, and a buy-and-sell shop.

A Hauppauge hotel on Motor Parkway has been sold, resulting in a change of management for the first time in a decade.

The Smithtown Sheraton, located at 110 Motor Parkway in Hauppauge, was sold on Thursday to a Chinese company, SouFun Holdings Ltd., Newsday reports. It will immediately change the hotel's name to UPSKY Long Island Hotel, an independent brand.

From Smithtown: Local Designer Moves Shop to Lake Avenue

Local interior designer Natalie Weinstein is expanding her shop and moving to a new locale on Lake Avenue in St. James.

Weinstein moved from her 2nd Avenue location and opened a new Fine Furniture & Accessories Boutique called Uniquely Natalie, which will feature lighting and accessories for the home. Natalie Weinstein Design Associates will be located next door in the same building.

From Commack: Tony Roma's Coming to Commack

A new restaurant is currently under construction at the Target shopping center on Crooked Hill Road in Commack.

Tony Roma's, a steak, seafood and ribs restaurant will open next to Target, across from Marshall's and Home Goods.

The restaurant, which is known for its signature baby back ribs, is a national franchise, that started in Miami, Fla.

Workers at the site said that the restaurant is planning to open within six months.
