Park Bake Shop on Main Street in Kings Park is gluten-free haven for those with celiac disease, or those trying to reduce gluten in their meals.
A gluten-free diet doesn't have to be "diet" at all at this local bakery as some of its best-selling items include a gluten-free cheesecake and cheesy bread, Gabby Shtanko, who helps run the bakery with her parents said.
"A lot of people come in for the gluten-free items," she said. Another worker in the store said she's had customers come all the way from Queens just to get the gluten free goods, since most bakeries don't offer much of a selection.
Gluten-free items at Park Bake Shop include tea biscuits, banana nut bread, corn muffins, white rolls, cheese rolls, sponge cake, pies, cookies, quiche, pignoli cookies, cheesecake, brownies, cupcakes, cannoli cookies and coconut macaroons.
