5 Businesses That Closed in 2013

Kings Park and the local area malls saw a number of businesses close in 2013.

As we countdown the final days of 2013, it's time to say goodbye to those who left us this year. 

The year of 2013 was one full of changes for Kings Park main street. Several long-standing businesses locked up their doors for the final time, closing down and/or moving on. 

Here are some of the stories of businesses that closed in 2013: 

* Kings Park Creamery Closes Its Doors
If you are the kind of person who eats ice cream even in the winter, you might be out of luck in Kings Park. 

The Creamery, owned and operated by the Russo family of Kings Park, has put its business on Kings Park's Main Street. A sign reading "For Sale" has been posted in its front window last week. 

Sarin Restaurant Temporarily Closes
A sign hanging in the doorway of local Thai restaurant, says the restaurant is closed due to a family emergency.

An employee Patch spoke with at the restaurant's Greenvale location confirmed that the restaurant is closed, but that it would be temporary. Update: The business was later sold off, and Sarin permanently closed. 

Chick's Cleaners Packs Up Shop
Chick's Cleaners, at 52 Main Street in Kings Park, closed its doors for business on March 31.

Customers who still have items that have not been picked up can pick them up at Kings Park Cleaners in the Kings Park Shopping Plaza on Indian Head Road.

Bow Wow Treasures Packs Up Shop
As one shop owner says it is time to move on.

Bow Wow Treasures, a thrift shop dedicated to raising money to open a local animal shelter said that the Kings Park location is just not working and is in the process of looking to rent in nearby towns where he said the majority of the store’s donations and customers come from.

Gilly Hicks to Shutter Mall Location Next Month
Intimate apparel retailer Gilly Hicks will be shuttering all stores by early next year, including its location in the Smith Haven Mall.
