Who's Got the Best Irish Soda Bread Recipe?

As local eatery holds a competition, others would just like to know how to make this seasonal favorite.

Ok, we know Irish Soda Bread doesn't get its name from the sugary soft drink that some leaders are trying to ban. But we couldn't resist.

Truth is the bread, which includes baking soda in the recipe as a leavening agent, is about to become a local favorite with the 3rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade coming on March 2.

In fact, Professors Diner will hold an Irish Soda Bread contest on St. Patrick's Day, asking locals to bring their loaves to restaurant before 4 p.m. to be judged by 6 p.m. The winner gets $50 to spend at the restaurant and bragging rights for a year.

But for those not in any way an accomplished enough baker to enter their goods in a contest, we'd love to collect a few recipes on this post to help them out.
