Nine-year old Steven Brunetti was recently chosen as the winner of a local essay contest.
The contest, held by Astoria Federal Savings, asked children ages 5-12 to complete the statement, “If I save a lot today, in the future I could…” Steven answered by saying he would pay for college so that he could be come a scientist and find a cure for cancer.
One winner was selected from each branch. For his efforts, Steven received a $50 U.S. Savings Bond, a certificate and medal.
