Weekend Spotlight: St. Joseph’s Church Second Annual Car Show

Car show to raise money for church and lodge.

This Sunday, Second Annual Car Show will be held at the church from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sponsored by the Sons of Italy, Fr. John Papallo Lodge, this show is open to classic cars, hot rods, custom cars, trucks and motorcycles.

The organizers of the event, Ron Roth and Ed McElhone Jr. expect about fifty vehicles.

“Among the cars registered are a ’69 Pontiac Firebird, ’63 Ford Thunderbird and a ’31 Ford Model A,” according to Roth. “The Kings Park Fire Department will also be bringing their antique fire truck.”

“This will be a nice day for the entire community,” says McElhone. There will be a DJ, Italian Ices, and a 50/50 raffle.

There will also be a special Blessing of the Vehicles by Father Sean at 3 p.m.

All proceeds raised from this show will go to the church and the Fr. John Papallo Lodge.

 

When:     Sunday, August 14, 2011  

Time:       11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Where:    St. Joseph's Church, 59 Church Street, Kings Park

Price:       $5 admission for adults/free for children under 10

                Car, truck, motorcycle early registration, $15 – day of show $20

Why:        To enjoy a day of fun for the whole family
