Weekend Spotlight: NRSP Foundation 5K Sunset Run & Summer Fun Run

On Saturday, run for your health, run for fun, run for a cause.

The 3rd Annual Nissequogue River State Park Foundation 5K Sunset Run/Walk and 1K Summer Fun Run for Kids will be held this Saturday, June 4th.   

“Both the Sunset Run/Walk and Summer Fun Run attract people from all across Long Island,” explains Foundation Chairman, Mike Rosato. “They come to enjoy the scenic and challenging course and to spend a fun filled day in support of the state park.” 

The event organizers expect about 500 participants this year.

“Although the main attractions are the runs, we also try to create a unique and festive atmosphere surrounding those events,” says Rosato. 

“There will be live music provided by classic rock artist Mike Taylor,” reveals Rosato. “For the kids, Yoohoo the Magical Clown will entertain with free balloons & face painting. Free food and beverages will be available for all participants who want to stick around and enjoy the evening after the race.”

The proceeds from the event will be used to help enhance and beautify the .

When:    Saturday, June 4th.

The Summer Fun Run begins at 5 PM and the Sunset Run kicks off at 5:30 PM.

Where:  The event will take place at the William T. Roger's Middle School in Kings Park, across the street from the south end of the park. 

Details: 

Early check-in and registration will be held on Friday June 3rd from 4 PM - 7 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall - 44 Church Street in Kings Park.

The registration fee for the Sunset Run is $20 pre-registration and $25 on the day of the run.

The Summer Fun Run fee is $10 for pre-registration and on the day of the event.
