Weekend Spotlight: Kings Park, Get In The "Yo"

Help break a world record, while fundraising for a good cause.

will attempt to break several world records this Sunday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kings Park High School track.

The three records the group will be trying to break:

  • The largest group of people to yo-yo for two minutes at the same time
  • The largest group of people singing "If You're Happy and You Know It"
  • The largest group of people standing on one foot for two minutes

All proceeds from the event will benefit Kings Park in the kNOw, a non-profit organization whose mission is to eradicate illegal drugs and substance abuse in the Kings Park community.

In the kNOw's members include parents, school officials, local business owners, local and state elected officials, and members of the Town of Smithtown Youth Bureau.

“We are doing this to raise money so we can help empower the community to be drug free and prevent destructive decisions,” says Anne Carlin, secretary of Kings Park in the kNOw and event organizer.

“It's a day where families can come together to raise money for a great cause, and not have to spend a lot of money doing it,” Carlin explains. “We are asking people to come out as a family and help us prevent drug abuse in the community.”

So come make history, have some fun, and support a good cause all at the same time.

 

When:   Sunday, September 18, 2011

Time:     2:00 p.m. 

Where:  Kings Park High School track

Price:    Registration is $5.00 - checks should be made payable to: Kings Park in the kNOw

Registration will be accepted the day of the event – cash accepted

Why:    To have fun breaking a world’s record while fundraising for a good cause

 

Notes:   

  • Arrive one hour early - by 1:00 p.m.
  • If high school parking lot is full, park in the train station lot, or WTR Middle School parking lot. There will be a shuttle school bus to bring participants to the high school. 
  • Only participants who have preregistered are guaranteed a custom Duncan yo-yo with the date printed on it.
