Weekend Spotlight: Adult Adventure - Long Island Sound Saunter

An educational walk along the beautiful shoreline of The Nissequogue River.

Experience the unique habitat where the meets the Long Island Sound. Enjoy a two mile walk along the edge of the river while exploring the native plants and extraordinary wildlife that call this area home.  

On Saturday, August 20th, New York State Park’s Long Island Regional Environmental Education Office will hold a naturalist led, hands on of this unique shoreline.

Participants will experience the sights and sounds of this area. Migrating shore birds, spiky beachgrass, and bayberry may be some of the discoveries made during this two hour exploration.

The fee for this adult oriented program, ages 18 and older only, is $4 dollars. Without an Empire Passport, parking is $8 dollars.

Registration is required and can be done up to and including Saturday morning by calling the Environmental Education Office at (631) 581-1072.

It is suggested that participants bring sunscreen, a bottle of water, comfortable walking shoes, and a camera.

Long Island Sound Saunter is an opportunity for adults to discover the natural wonders of this beautiful shoreline.
