Weekend Planner: Memorial Day Parades

Everybody loves a parade.

Monday is Memorial Day, a time for remembrance, barbecues, and parades. Come out and enjoy your day off by watching the Memorial Day Parades marching in our area.

Kings Park Memorial Day Parade- Begins at 9 a.m., and leaves from and travels west on Old Dock Road, then east on Main Street, with a final destination of Veterans Plaza at the corner of Church Street and Route 25A. Once the parade makes it to the Plaza, there will be flag ceremonies. Sponsored by American Legion Post 944.

St James- Monday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Parade route begins at Woodland and Lake Avenue and heads north on Lake to St. James Elementary School.

Smithtown- At noon, anyone who wants to soak up more of the sun's rays or put off starting to cook those hot dogs and hamburgers can watch the second parade, which heads west along Main Street, from Singer Lane to Town Hall.

Commack- Monday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sponsored by Veterans of Foreign War Elwood-Commack Post 9263. Parade starts at the Home Depot Parking Lot then east on Jericho Turnpike. To the Veteran Memorial at Jericho Turnpike and Veterans Memorial Highway.
