Girl's Card Touches Hearts at Kings Park Veterans Day Parade

A young girl at the Kings Park Veterans Day Parade touched a few hearts when she approached Al Mlodynia, the commander of the Nissequogue Veterans of Foreign War Post 5796, after the parade.

The girl, who was with her mother, handed Mlodynia the card seen above thanking him and his fellow veterans for their service. 

Registration Picks Up Speed for Nissequogue River State Park's Turkey Trot

Registration is now open for what promises to be one of the largest street races in Kings Park this year. 

The Nissequogue River State Park Foundation's sixth annual 1K Turkey Trot for Kids and 5K Run/Walk for the Park will be held on Thursday, Nov. 28. Organizers say early registrations coming in via the foundation's website promise to make it one of the biggest years yet. 

Foundation Donates 64 Trees to Kings Park Hike & Bike Trail Extension

A Kings Park-based foundation has stepped forward to donate to the extension of the Hike & Bike Trail where county and town funding has come up short. 

The Nissequogue River State Park Foundation has offered to donate 64 trees towards the plans to extend the Kings Park Hike & Bike Trail by approximately 975 feet, from the southwest portion down to Main Street near community parking lot. 

Girls Volleyball Wins Third Consecutive LI Title

The unstoppable Kings Park girls volleyball was able to defend its title, claiming its third consecutive Long Island title on Saturday. 

Kings Park girls varsity volleyball team swept Long Beach in three games to claim the Long Island Class A championship for the third year running.

Cops: Man Caught Selling Bootlegged DVDs at Gas Station

Yasin Akkaya, 33, of Centereach was arrested on Nov. 3 in Kings Park and charged with one felony count of second-degree trademark counterfeiting. Akkaya was found at the Gulf Gas Station on East Main Street in Kings Park, attempting to sell roughly 120 bootlegged DVDs.
