Trotta Stakes Out Campaign Office on Main Street
Robert Trotta, a Fort Salonga resident has set up campaign headquarters on Main Street as a candidate for the Suffolk County Legislature.

Trotta, a Republican, will be running for Legis. Lynne Nowick's seat, whose term ends Nov. 13. Nowick, who currently represents the 13th district, is prevented from running for re-election due to reaching the term limit of serving in the legislature for 12 years. 

Car Erupts Into Flames As Driver Loses Control on Sunken Meadow
Parkway

A car burst in to flames on Tuesday evening after the driver lost control of her car at the northbound exit of the Sunken Meadow State Parkway.

According to officials the driver of the car was heading west on Route 25A in Kings Park at about 6:30 p.m. and struck a light pole before crossing both the north and southbound lanes, hitting a tree on the south side of the parkway.

Construction Begins at Mayfair to Build New Restaurant
Construction is underway at the Mayfair Shopping Center to add a restaurant expansion onto the property.

Levin Management’s request to add a 3,568-square-foot restaurant next to Bagel Boss was approved by the Town of Smithtown May 2. Previously, this space served as the drive-through facilities for the Bank of Smithtown. 

Bueno! 16 Students Honored for Spanish Studies

Students from Kings Park High School earned a total of two gold, two silver and six bronze medals along with 16 honorable mentions.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams. 

Restraining Order Stops Expansion of King Park Businesses
A New York Supreme court judge granted Town of Smithtown officials a temporary restraining order to prevent the expansion of Kings Park businesses allegedly operating in violation of town zoning codes. 

Supreme Court Judge Daniel Martin signed an order June 11 that stops Jezco of New York; Jezco Containers; and Town, County and State Recycling  - and more than two dozen Kings Park businesses - from storing new trucks or taking in any more concrete, asphalt, mulch, stump or other debrisNewsday reports.
