Majestic, Frank......what time of day?.....what date ?.....tripod for Eating/Nesting scenes?...sounds are fantastic.......steady and magnificent.

Last July hot day hand held due to not wanting this animal to fly away but as he began to show that he wasn't going anywhere switched to tripod in both events. Feeding Ospry at short beach nesting on pole at entrance to beach on the left side.

Wow, gorgeous. Does anyone know what kind of very large birds can often be seen perched high on the street lamps along the Sunken Meadow Pkwy.? Are they hawks or osprey?
Frank Mercuri May 02, 2012 at 03:20 PM
If they are perched on lamp posts most likely they are hawks. Osprey are usually close to water for they feed on fish. Others prey on small animals, yes even dogs. Eagles have been spotted on the grounds of the Nissequoque River State park. Also keep in mind that all those mentioned here are in the Hawk family
