Things To Do With Dad for Father's Day

A guide to places to go in and around Kings Park to eat, drink, and bond with your dad or a father figure in your life.

 

Don't know what to do with Dad this Father's Day?  We have you covered with everything from your standard golf outing to free yoga for dads, as well as lunch, dinner, and drink specials in and around town.
  • is a popular and reasonably-priced spot for golf in Kings Park. The first tee-off is at sunrise (about 5:30 a.m.) and the last tee-off is approximately one a half hours before sunset. Play eighteen holes for $33, or take it easy and go for nine for $20. To make a reservation so you know you will be able to play when you want to, call up the course and make a reservation for $5.  If you think you or your dad need to brush up a bit on your golf skills, the driving range is open for the same hours, and golf lessons are also offered through the pro shop on site.
  • To bring some zen to your father’s life, bring your dad or a dad-to-be to at 7:45 a.m. or 9:15 a.m. for a free yoga session.  No equipment is necessary, but your dad should be sure to wear comfy clothes.
  • For lunch, stop by on Jericho Turnpike in Commack, which is open at special hours for the holiday.  Instead of the normal Sunday hours that begin at 2:30 p.m., you can come by at 11 a.m. for a bloomin’ onion, steak, lobster tails, and other Outback classics.
  • You could also bring your dad to in Commack, which has multiple specials for Father’s Day.  The shrimp trio, with a grilled shrimp kebab, fried shrimp, and shrimp scampi is $18.  If meat is more your dad’s thing, you can order a chipotle spare rib with two sides and a salad for $18.  They also have a marinated porterhouse steak with mashed potatoes and beer-battered onion rings for $24.
  • This Sunday, you can also try treating both of your parents, your husband, or yourself and your dad to dancing at the Smithtown Masonic Temple, where an afternoon of  will be held.  From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., wear soft-soled shoes or sneakers and get down to traditional English music by Annette Kirk, John Gallagher, and the English Dragonflies.  Tickets are $10 for members, and $14 for non-members.
  • For an inexpensive end to the day with your dad, uncle, or important man in your life, grab some drinks at .  From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., all drafts are two-for-one, so kick back and catch up over cold beers.
