Roll Up Your Sleeves For King Park's Third Annual Baking Contest

Have a recipe that simply takes the cake? Sign-up sheets now available online through Kings Park Farmers Market.

It's time to whip out your favorite recipe and put it to the test in Kings Park Farmers Market's third annual Baking Contest.

The Kings Park Farmer's Market will host its third annual Baking Contest during the annual Harvest Festival on Oct. 27. Sign-up entry forms are now available online through the farmers market's website, here.

Bakers are limited to a maximum of one entry in each of the following three categories: breads and muffins, pies, and cakes. The baked goods must be made from scratch, no mixes, and use local ingredients such as eggs, fruit and produce when possible.

All entries will be judged on texture, appearance, creative presentation, flavor, uniqueness and use of locally grown ingredients on a scale of 1 to 5.  A score of 5 is outstanding, representing a high score.

A first, second and third-place winner will be selected in each category by a panel of judges. Awards will be gift certificates to local restaurants, the farmers market and for use at other local businesses. The winner's names and photos will be posted on the Kings Park Farmers Market's Facebook page.
