Question of the Day: Are You Still Finding These?

Plastic disks tracked down to a Westchester Sewage Treatment Plant in March.

In March, thousands of small plastic wagon wheels washed up on Long Island Sound beaches, causing residents in waterside communities a little panic over where they came from. The answer, however, wasn't all that soothing.

It seemed the disks, which are normally used to clean wastewater by removing nitrogen, escaped from an aeration tank that was under construction at a wastewater treatment plant in Mamaroneck, N.Y., in Westchester County.

But, now months after the incident, we wonder if locals are still pulling these out of the rocks along the shores.
