Scouts Rev Up the Fun At Annual Pine Car Derby

32 local boys competed in the event.

Where can you find a Peeka Chu car, a tank and a limousine? At the annual Pine Car Derby, of course.

Cub Scout Pack 379 hosted the annual event. 32 boys from Fort Salonga Elementary and RJO Intermediate School competed with hand made derby cars. Cars are judged on speed and creativity and must meet strict specification. The fastest four cars are chosen to represent the Pack at the Cub Scout District Derby in April.

This year’s entries included a Peeka Chu car, a tank, a limousine, Sponge Bob Square Pants, an alligator, skeleton drivers, the General Lee and the crowd favorite, an Angry Birds car.  First place went to Jake Girouard, second to Conor Lang, third to Christopher Olsen and fourth to Cameron Lara.
