PHOTOS: St. Baldrick's Cut at the Park Lounge

Fundraising effort benefits childhood cancer research.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation notes that its fundraisers are "an easy and fun way to raise money for a very serious cause—like a walkathon, but without the blisters."

Sunday, that was evident in Kings Park as several teams of fundraisers lined up to get their hair cut at The Park Lounge yet again.

John Gallagher shared these photos, adding that his son Christopher raised over $2,000 this year – well beyond his $1,000 goal.

"He just got a kick out of doing it again this year," said Gallagher. "He would have been happy raising $300 or $400 ... People are geting to the point where it's a big celebration. It's just one of those events that kept on bringing the gang in."

Gallagher noted that local elected officials including Smithtown Supervisor Patrick Vecchio and Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick were just a couple who dropped by to sit in on the fun for a little while.
