Photos: Playground At Nissequogue River State Park

Enjoy the playground and bird watching conservatory in Kings Park

With the playground at the library being closed while they undergo renovations, you may want to take the kids to the playground over at the Nissequogue River State Park.

The Foundation for Long Island State Parks enabled the purchase of state of the art playground facility in Kings Park. Intended for children between the ages of 5 and 12, the playground features everything from the traditional Merry-Go-Round to a board translating sign language with picture symbols. Take a look around the playground which is also on the grounds of the Nissequogue Bird Conservation Area.

No - I believe (correct me if I am wrong) - that you have to pay a fee if you visit this park. Not exactly somewhere I will bring my girls every day - the library park was FREE. You can use the Empire Park though - that will get you into all the State Parks. Hoyt Farms is FREE - you can go there with just the Smithtown sticker - and there are animals to see, a Sprinkler park, a playground, and picnic benches.

You can get in as a walker ( Park in the area of the Soccer Fields) or if you are a senior you can drive in and sign in at the booth showing your NY state Licence. This only applies Monday through Friday. After a ertain hour I believe 4:30 PM one can drive through. Check the hours with the Nissequoque River State Park. Also check with the park on the Airmid Theater Free Childrens' show beginnin July 5th
