Photos From Our Viewers

Francis L. Mercuri shares with us his love of photography.

These photos were submitted by Kings Park resident Francis L. Mercuri who says that photography is a hobby he has had since his early years.

He returned to his love of taking pictures after retirement at 69 years old and began using digital photography when he was 70.

Mercuri told Patch that he believes that seniors should pursue their hobbies as long as they have their health and enjoy their retirement.

Mercuri has traveled extensively throughout the United States, all by car, which he says is the best way to see the country.

Here are some photos from Kings Park, eastern Long Island and around the country.

Love photography, especially nature photography! This should be a regular feature of Patch!

Really beautiful and inspiring! Great work and great idea to send to Patch.com. Please make a permanent section in Patch.com. Maybe the photos can be separated by zip codes to view individual towns? Thanks

Thanks to all for your comments. Those of you who have submitted phots show that you need not have a"professional" title to take great pictures. So long as you have an eye for beauty and a feel for art, you will do well in what it is you wish to capture. I have wanted to join a camera club but none exist in Kings Park that I know of. I would ike to start one, If you have an isterest in one send me a note at Fmerc1@optonline.net.

Frank and Steve......you KNOW that I'm a fan of you both.....each of you is gifted. BTW, I'd like to ask "Bern" if it's OK to use the sunrise (sunset's ?) on my desktop. Frank.....I'll gladly get "into" any PHOTOGRAPHY group here in our GOLD COAST hamlet.

Hey.....this article alone gives me pause......The PATCH is like a FB for our hamlet.....from these great pictures alone , I know Steve, Frank, Peggy, and Jack.....hmmmmmmm

Thanks Linda. The bird is a chick-a-dee photographed at the Elizabeth Norton preserve in Sag Harbor. The hand belongs ot Vi my wife who is holding seeds. This bird is a shy fast bird and you need to be alert with a fast shutter like action shots and a distance for a telephoto.

Photos from the sunsets on are not mine. They are great shots. Whose are thet?
Margaret Gurlides April 04, 2011 at 10:43 AM
I really enjoyed your pictures, hope you do not mind but I put the bluff sunset on my desk top also, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. Nice job !
Bern April 04, 2011 at 01:19 PM
To all that asked to use my sunsets (Bluff KP) as a desktop- YES PLEASE enjoy the view! Thank you very much. I know nothing about photography, but like Frank, I have been out there recording what I see. Sorry about putting on Frank's site, but I couldn't find a way to add as mine alone. All these photos and many more are on my FB, but no one really commented there, sadly. So once AGAIN- PATCH.com is the PLACE TO BE! Bernadette Piccione
