Last Chance: Caleb Smith Park Junior Angler Freshwater Fishing Tournament

Tournament begins Saturday morning, prizes awarded.

 

This Saturday the Friends of Caleb Smith Preserve are hosting a freshwater fishing tournament for children ages 5 through 12.

This catch and release tournament will take place on the north side of the park.

Children ages five to eight will be able to fish from 9:00-10:30 am, with a check-in time beginning at 8:15 am. Children between the ages of nine and 12 will fish from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with check-in starting at 12:15 p.m.

A limited number of rods will be available for use at each session. All anglers can and are encouraged to use their own equipment. Live bait, hooks, and bobbers will be provided.

Beverages will be provided by the friends and three prizes will be awarded to each age group.

Rain or shine.

Where: Caleb Smith State Park, 581 W Jericho Tpke, Smithtown

Who: Kids

Cost: $10 per angler for friend’s members and $15 per angler for non-members

Why: To enjoy a great day of fishing at Caleb Smith State Park

Note: There is an $8.00 parking fee per car and will be charged during the fee collection season; Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.

Junior anglers under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
