KP Students Recognized For Charitable Efforts

Students donate $1,000 to local organization, Angels Without Faces.

Students at Kings Park High School were recognized for their charitable efforts by Legis. Lynne Nowick last week during their annual “Stuff-A-Bus” fundraising event.

Nowick, along with MSG Varsity’s Power to Learn, recognized the students for participating in this year’s Charity Champions, a program from Power to Learn, an education initiative by Cablevision that promotes volunteerism and encourages area high schools to raise funds for a charity of their choice.

The school was presented with a $1,000 check to be donated to Angels Without Faces, a Kings Park charitable organization, as well as $500 to be used for future charitable activities.

“We are extremely proud of our students for their dedication and sense of community service,” said club advisor, Kim McGinley.

As part of their efforts, the students held the “Stuff-A-Bus” event. Future plans include raking leaves and yard cleanups, a Yankee Doodle Circus and a beach clean up at Sunken Meadow State Park.
