Kings Park's Magic Sauce Goes National

Local resident and owner makes magic.

If you’re vacationing down in Florida or on the sunny island of Puerto Rico this summer and find yourself in a food market – you might just come across Kings Park’s own Magic Sauce. Owned and operated by Kings Park businessman Anthony Mirando, the Magic Sauce Company has just taken its marinade-finishing sauce national.

“At first I thought are we out of our minds,” said Mirando.

He knew the sauce had enormous potential but had concerns about expanding during difficult economic times. He said they had some local country clubs using it as well as Long Island food markets such as Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace and Guinta’s Meat Farms. The response to the sauce was so phenomenal he and his team knew that had to go bigger and the sauce is now sold in more than seven states

“Right now New Jersey Shop Rite is looking to take it on as well,” he added.

One of Mirando’s closest friends, Ron Worthington an executive chef, created the sauce about twenty-five years ago.

“About 20 years ago he asked me if I wanted to take it public and I said no at that time,” said Mirando.

But it was a recent vivid dream that motivated him to take Magic Sauce full throttle.  Mirando, a veteran in the food service business, had been delivering gourmet food to movies shoots in Manhattan.

“I had a dream that we were on the movie set of Sex in the City and Magic Sauce was being used,”

He jumped out of bed and called his friend at six in the morning to say he was in and wanted to take the sauce public.

According to the company's website, Magic-Sauce is an intense full flavored sauce that can be drizzled over just about anything and, according to Mirando, is delectable drizzled over vanilla ice cream saying the combination tastes like caramel sauce.

“It replaces a lot of other sauce because it can be used on everything,” said Mirando.

Mirando doesn’t really have a favorite way to eat Magic Sauce, however, he’s says it’s great on pork because of the meat’s high fat content. Mirando took his son fishing on a commercial boat this week and they soon discovered that the sauce is fantastic on fresh striped bass and fluke.
