Kathleen Lanese Tops the 2012 List for Kings Park's Greatest Person

Hats off to all community members, named and unnamed, who make Kings Park the place so many are proud to call home.

So many in the in big ways and in small, some noticed and some unnoticed and our readers helped us highlight a few, who in their minds, have stood out.

Kathleen Lanese is one of the names that came to mind's of our readers as a person who gives back to the community, who is caring, kind and helpful. Here are few things our readers had to say about her.

"Kathleen Lanese is an amazing person. She works tirelessly to help others and promote awareness for families effected with autism. She gives so much of her time and energy for others. Kathleen is an unsung hero, a dedicated advocate for all our children, of Kings Park, Suffolk County and New York State," commented Kateri Lucarelli.

Grace Rubertone said in our comment section, "She is a great mother and wife. Her accomplishments with Autism Speaks are outstanding. She does all with a great smile."

Here's to the tireless heroes, the PTA moms and dads, the volunteers, the coaches and scout leaders, the volunteer firefighters and community helpers who help set the example for being a good neighbor.

Here's to the businesses and organizations who dig deep time and time again when asked to help. These faces, named and nameless help to define a community and make it a place that its members are proud to call home. Your recognition doesn't start or end with a poll, its just a way for those around you to say they are proud of you, to thank you and say way to go.

Do you know a hometown hero? Email editor Jennifer Sloat at jennifersloat@patch.com, we'd love to hear about them.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!

That's funny, I spend a small fortune for school supplies for my kids. I am also asked to buy extraRead More for the kids who don't have., which I gladly do. The "society letting kids down" comment is a little over the top!!
