Summer solstice begins today at 1:16 p.m. which means that today is the longest day of the year. Summer is calling. Put on some sunscreen and make sure you venture outside today to take in the some warm sun and fresh air.

 1.     True Grit is the feature for new movie matinee. Stop by at 1 p.m. at the Smithtown Library and see a new spin on an old classic.

2.     Meet Lee McAllister, author of Hiking Long Island at the Commack branch of the library. McAllister explores the best trails on Long Island. Catch him at 7 p.m.
