Officers Reunite With Man They Saved in Mt. Sinai

Off-duty officer Lance Prager had just left training for Advanced Life Support on May 17 when he saw 86-year-old Bruno Kaluzinski fall to the floor while at Agway on Route 25A in Mt. Sinai.

After determining that Kaluzinski wasn't breathing, he began CPR. Sixth Precinct patrol officers Anthony Passarella and Frank Ribaudo arrived to help Prager. Kaluzinski began breathing and Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance Company brought him to Mather Memorial Hospital.

Local Hits Shoe Lotto; Donates Proceeds to Charity

That's essentially what sneaker-head Franaldo Hanna, a 2004 East Hampton High School grad, did after winning a one-of-a-kind pair of Air Jordans after a contest through Nike gave away 27 Air Jordans – one for each different style over the years.

The varsity boys' track team at Earl L. Vandermeulen High School achieved seven top-ten victories at the William F. Eddy Championship Invitational in Schenectady last week.

Andrew Kim, a 10th grade student at Commack High School, won a silver medal at the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, and Environment Project Olympiad competition in Houston.

Skate for Boston Marathon Victims at The Rinx

Suffolk County Hockey Leagues, along with their sponsors, will host a Memorial Day Hockey Tournament May 27 beginning at 9 a.m. at The Rinx in Hauppauge in a Skate for Boston event to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
