Dozens of residents turned out for the annual lighting of the Kings Park Christmas tree at Veterans Park on Sunday afternoon.
The man in red arrived in style atop a vintage Kings Park firetruck and handed out candy canes to all girls and boys.
Kevin Denis hosted the holiday tradition and lit the tree that stands outside of the Kings Park library. Residents munched on cookies and sipped hot cocoa as the William T. Rogers Middle School l band provided music for the event.
A Hanukkah Festival will take place Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. with the symbolic lighting of the menorah. Chocolate Hanukkah gelt and dreidels will be given and music will be provided by the Kings Park High School Orchestra under the direction of Jon Nowak.
