# 94 - Get In The Game at Sportime

It's all about sports, fitness and fun at Sportime, Kings Park.

If tennis is your passion, or something you’ve always wanted to try, is the place to go. The newly renovated sports club, located at 275 Old Indian Head Road, offers three indoor clay courts and eight hard courts, three of which are located in the “bubble” during the winter months.

But if you thought Sportime was only about tennis, you haven’t been there in a while. Jason Wass, the club’s general manager, describes Sportime as a family friendly sports club. Along with the tennis programs, the club offers a full fitness center and group exercise programs. There’s kick boxing, spin classes, pilates, bosu, yoga, zumba and more.

Caren Neuwirth, who has been exercising at Sportime for over four years, likes that the club is local and convenient.

“Taking a class motivates you,” she says. “You don’t work as hard on your own as you do in a group.”

Sportime also offers sports classes and clinics, such as basketball and volleyball. It provides agility classes which can be a big help for kids getting ready for school tryouts and it boasts an outdoor swimming pool, open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Baby sitting is also available.

There are many types of club memberships, such as fitness and tennis, fitness and swim, or tennis only. Even if you are not a member, there are still loads of programs your family can join such as the open dodgeball tournaments. For $20, your tween can enjoy two and-a half hours of dodgeball, pizza included.

Multi-sport birthday parties are available for kids of all ages. Parties are 90 minutes, with an hour dedicated to playing sport favorites such as soccer, dodgeball, basketball, baseball and floor hockey. The remainder of the time is spent celebrating in the club’s party room.

Summer camp and vacation mini camps are also offered. Mini camps, which run during school vacations, offer tennis and multi- sport options. There’s swimming, arts and crafts, exercise classes, project adventures and more.

So if you are looking for the family to get in shape, or stay in shape, while having fun, Sportime is the perfect fit. That’s why it makes our “100 Things To Do in Kings Park” list.
