9/11 Spotlight: Annual Blessing Of the Shields
Church of St. Joseph's blessing will honor men and women who serve and defend.
On Sept. 11, the Church of St. Joseph will hold its annual Blessing of the Shields to remember the selfless heroism of all those who respond to our needs in times of danger and threat.
At the noon mass, all those who serve in police departments and fire departments, along with correction officers, sheriffs, EMT’s, emergency service units, and auxiliary police - both active and retired - are invited to join with the parish as they pray for God’s blessing for those who provide service to our communities.
The church’s collective prayer, as the nation and parish observes the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, will be that God always watches over and protects the dedicated men and women that serve our communities and work to ensure the public good and domestic tranquility.
