5 Events For the Weekend

Outdoor adventures rule the weekend.

Kick off the weekend with some live music at Napper Tandy's in Smithtown. There is a $5 cover, show starts at 10 p.m. Friday evening.

Sunken Meadow Ramble

The Long Island Greenbelt Trail will be hosting a scenic walk on the boardwalk in the state park. The terrain is flat along this three mile trail. Saturday morning, 10 a.m.

Scavenger Hunt

Search as a team with your family in Nissequogue River State Park for items on the scavenger hunt list.  Kids will use their 5 senses to find fun things that nature hides in plain sight every day. Open to all ages. Cost is $4, hunt begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Spelling Bee

Catch the recent Broadway hit, Spelling Bee at the Star Playhouse in Commack. Shows are Saturday and Sunday, $22 for a single admission ticket.

Maple Sugaring

Hoyt Farm in Commack will present the history of maple sugaring as well as techniques that will enable you to make syrup in your own backyard. Tap a tree, boil sap, and taste maple and walnut syrup and maple sugar. Sunday, 1:30 p.m.

Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
